Hi, I’m Troy! I spend a lot of my time exploring and learning about ancient places and cultures, collecting unique and interesting ethnographic creations and writing about art and traditions inspired by folklore and legends.
I’ve visited Machu Picchu several times as well as numerous Inca and pre-Incan sites throughout Peru. I’ve been to Tiwanacu and Puma Punku in Bolivia, Angkor Wat in Cambodia, Old Bagan in Myanmar, various Mayan sites throughout Mexico and sundry of Native American sites in the USA. One of my favorite things that I’ve done (several times) was hiking through un-excavated Zapotec ruins in Mexico!
As a side note: If you like hiking I highly recommend the Inca trail, Everest basecamp, the Zion Narrows and the Great Walks in New Zealand.
I truly enjoyed visiting Japan where I learned about Yokai and their relationship to the culture. Japan is a definitely a must do of you’re into lore and legends. And don’t miss out on Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Korea they’re must-see places steeped with folklore and ancient mysteries.
Another side note: Ask me if you’d like to see my list of “Places Troy plans to visit or-revisit soon”.
I sometimes think about putting together an expedition to a foreign land to see if we can find a lost city to name after ourselves. We’d probably die a horrible death at the hands of some unseen terror but I’m sure it would be an awesome adventure and imagine the books deals!
What are some of the craziest and adventurous things you want to do? I look forward to hearing from you!
